This blog used to be called 'Prowler Life,' named for our fifth wheel. After we sold it, I stopped blogging about our travels. But now, I'm back, blogging about all the little trips we make, mostly by car, not including BIG trips, like cruises, which are over at 'David and Linda's Excellent Adventures.'
So here's the first entry.
We're having our driveway and front walk replaced, so we decided to get away for a few days to let things settle down. It was our first time staying in a motel with Bailey, so we weren't sure how it would work out.
We went to Seaside and stayed two nights at the Coast River Inn. It was pretty basic, but the location was good and it was cheap.
We stopped at a Whole Foods along the way and bought frozen chicken pies and salad stuff for our first dinner. I cooked oatmeal in the mornings in our kitchenette, but lunches and dinners came from Safeway.
There's a really nice promenade along the beach, which we walked several times. Bailey went nuts on the beach, trying to run. We figure he already knew about beaches from his past life. It was hard not to let him go, but we couldn't risk it.
Seaside is the end of the Lewis and Clark Trail. There's a statue of them along the promenade.
We walked into downtown, which is a bit touristy, with lots of amusement places and some restaurants.
On our second day we decided it was time to try out our new GPS that we bought for geocaching. It worked great, and we found the two caches we were looking for. Unfortunately, we discovered that the unit had been used by someone else, so we decided to return it when we got home.
Bailey turned out to be fine in the motel. We never left him alone, but he was pretty
good, only woofing occasionally at kids playing next door.
